You may be wondering about the "alphabet soup" after Bob's name. He has spent many years acquiring proper education to become the best at what he does. Here is a snapshot of what all those letters mean...

M.S. - Bob has three college degrees. His undergraduate is in Exercise and Sport Science. His two graduate/Master's degrees are in Health and Exercise Science, and Food Science and Human Nutrition. He successfully defended two research based theses during his graduate studies and knows his way around interpreting research and aligning it with real-life applications.

R.D. - Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. A college degree studying food science and human nutrition is required to be able to sit for this national examination. Of course, this is after successfully completing a 9 - 12 month nutrition internship after graduation.

C.S.S.D. - Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. A certification only given to Registered Dietitians who have years of experience working with athletes. A rigorous national examination must be passed and frequent continuing education credits upheld to acquire and maintain this certification. Bob was actually on the committee that created the content for the first ever CSSD exam.

C.S.C.S. - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Bob has worked as a trainer/strength coach since the mid 1990's and specializes in creating strength and recovery programs for endurance athletes.

U.S.A.T. Level III Elite Coach - Bob has been a USA Triathlon Certified Coach since 1999. In 2004 at the first Elite Level III class, he became one of only a handful Level III Elite Triathlon Coaches in the country. He has had the fortunate pleasure of coaching Olympians, Olympic Medalists, and National Champions.

M.E.T.S. Level II - A Level II Metabolic Efficiency Training Specialist. In 2012, Bob created this certification to support his Metabolic Efficiency Training concept and teach health, fitness, medical, and nutrition professionals how to properly use the concept to teach athletes how to improve their health and performance.

 

Fun Facts About Bob

He has been a competitive, All American, triathlete, for many years.

He is a competitive obstacle course racer, placing 4th in the 2016 Spartan World Championships in the Competitive category of his age group.

He created the concepts Nutrition Periodization™ and Metabolic Efficiency Training™.

He loves teaching and mentors Registered Dietitians and Endurance Coaches.

He really, really likes bikes.

He never listens to music when he trains. He likes engaging with the natural surroundings.

He grew up a competitive soccer player and entered his first triathlon in 1993 off of a dare from his friend. He finished almost last but was inspired to continue in the sport to find out where his limits were. He still hasn’t found them!

His favorite quote is "People think I'm competitive. I just want to be better."

He loves reading.

Trail running is much more than exercise for him. It is a spiritual connection that he cherishes each time he steps foot on a trail.
